This area will be used to promote home automation add-on solutions to common 'issues' we face in our homes or businesses.

We are making an assumption that a Contol4 System with Controller is in place.

We're looking for well developed content with good descriptions and resolutions including pictures, discussion and the specific products used.

Variations that arise in the process will also be mentioned/need to be mentioned  Wink

If you have an idea for a common scenario we haven't addressed and would like to work on a solution, please feel free to give it a shot. We could also collaborate on it together so please let us know if we can be of assistance.

DRAFT: (Assuming a Contol4 System with Controller exists)

This Powder Room Motion Light scenario is common:

Location: A small darkroom off a heavily travelled hallway

Insert Picture Dark
Insert Picture Lights on

Problems:
  • Dark room - too dark to see the switch
  • Switch is behind the door (hinge side)

Comfort factors:
Switch is expected on the latch side (irritant and/or annoyance)

Existing Devices:
Decora Double Switch for fan and light
Insert Picture Switch

New devices:
  • Control4 Motion switch/dimmer (url to purchase)
  • Motion sensor - GE (url to purchase)

Insert Picture - Control4 Motion switch/dimmer
Insert Picture - Motion sensor - GE

Resolution, Considerations and Wow Factors:
  • Motion sensor was placed on door wall - un-triggered by hall traffic
  • Motion switch/dimmer on at 40% - quickly rises to 100%
  • Motion switch/dimmer re-triggers at 3.5 minutes

Project Cost:
  • Control4 Motion switch/dimmer (url to purchase)
  • Motion sensor - GE (url to purchase)

Time to complete: ?? Stay tuned!!
